The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour at Fr. Agnel Co-Ed Senior Secondary School, Bhopal, on 26th January 2026.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar, M.B.B.S., M.D., D.N.B. (Obstetrics & Gynaecology), Fellow in Reproductive Medicine (CMC, Vellore), Director – HER Health, and Ironman Triathlete. She was accorded a warm welcome by the School Manager, Rev. Fr. Harold Da Silva. The Chief Guest was received with a ceremonial salute by the school band and escorted to the dais.
The programme commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, followed by the hoisting of the National Flag. The entire gathering then sang the National Anthem in unison, followed by patriotic slogans honouring the nation. This was succeeded by an impressive march past by the various school houses, with students marching in perfect harmony to rhythmic beats, displaying discipline and unity.
This was followed by the introduction of the Chief Guest and a welcome address delivered by the students. A special prayer service for the nation, followed by a hymn, was then conducted. Two students delivered patriotic speeches, highlighting the values of unity, freedom, and responsibility.
The school choir then presented a melodious patriotic song, “Hum Sathi Hain”, accompanied by harmonious and scintillating musical accompaniment, which was appreciated by all present.
In her address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Priya Bhave Chittawar, highlighted the importance of celebrating both Independence Day and Republic Day, stating that while Independence Day symbolises freedom, Republic Day marks the day when the Constitution of India came into force, providing direction and discipline to that freedom. She beautifully compared the Constitution to the thread of a kite, explaining that just as a kite flies higher with the support of a thread, a nation and individuals rise higher when guided by rules and discipline. She encouraged students to cherish their independence while always living by values, discipline, and the Constitution, which would help them soar high in life.
Following her address, a patriotic dance performance was presented by the school dance troupe, which was well appreciated by the audience. This was followed by the declaration of results and the distribution of prizes and trophies to students who excelled in inter-house, inter-class, and inter-school competitions, as well as other co-curricular activities.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, and the celebration came to a dignified close with the singing of the National Song “Vande Mataram”, with everyone standing in respect.
